Identity verification applies to:
Â
All directors of UK companies.
Persons of significant control (PSCs).
Members of Limited Liability Partnerships
Persons submitting documents on a company’s behalf.
Â
Companies House will issue a unique ID number that links to your Companies House record. This number will be required for all future filings.
From 18th November 2025, all filings will require the new ID number. This applies to company registration and filing of confirmation statement.
Â
How the process works:
Â
Option 1 – Directly with Companies House
Â
You will need to have or register for filing, an account with Companies House. Once you have your registration, you can log in to the portal and upload an ID document (passport or driving licence). You will then need to take a real-time selfie for a facial recognition match.
Â
Option 2 – Via an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)
Â
This process is usually conducted by a company registration agent, accountant or solicitor. They must be AML supervised and registered as an ACSP with Companies House.
Â
This service is provided by Chalfen and the process is simple, using a biometric check followed by verifying the person with Companies House.
Â
Directors, LLP Members or PSCs who don’t complete verification:
May be barred from acting in their role
Could be removed from the register
Risk company filings being rejected or blocked
Could face financial penalties or enforcement action
